Our corporate strategy

Our corporate strategy puts customers, communities, homes and sustainability at its heart.

Who we are

Established in 1993 as Irvine Housing Association, Riverside Scotland has been housing and supporting people in local communities across South West Scotland for over 30 years.

Our approach to delivering great outcomes for our customers and communities combines commercial acumen with our social purpose – we are a business with a charitable heart.

People are at the heart of Riverside Scotland – the people who we provide homes to, the people we support in the communities we serve, and our skilled and experienced team of employees.

Homes, communities and customers

Our history and the Riverside Group

Growing through partnership

In 2011, we became part of The Riverside Group, one of the UK’s oldest and largest housing associations with 75,000 properties across 175 local authorities.

As part of the Riverside Group, our business benefits from the Group’s expertise, financial and business strength, including access to shared services, driving efficiency through the business and increasing our ability to tailor our services to our Scottish customers.

Since then, we have continued our desire to grow and develop our services, through ambitious new‑build programmes and further improvements and support for our existing customers.

Our customers first

Listening and improving

As we enter the fourth decade of our journey, our focus is on our existing customers, putting them first in our decision‑making and service development.

We want to concentrate on improving their experience of Riverside Scotland as their landlord.

We surveyed customers post‑Covid and have redesigned our service offer for the future based on what our customers told us.

Homes for the future
Going forward, we want to deliver significant improvements to our assets, focusing on improving the homes we own and manage, striving for net zero, and looking at how we can regenerate some of our estates by working closely with our partners across Ayrshire and Dumfries and Galloway.
Diverse ways for customers to influence our priorities

We work with customers through a wide range of formal engagement structures, such as:

  • Riverside Customer Voice
  • Four resident panels in London
  • Scrutiny panels
  • Digital engagement through our growing iCommunity

Customer-led development of our strategy

Customers have been central to developing this plan and its supporting strategies. They have also played an important oversight role throughout the recent merger process.
