How we work during repairs and maintenance

At Riverside Scotland, we want every repair and maintenance job to be straightforward and stress-free. Our approach focuses on keeping you informed, safe, and comfortable throughout the process.

Video calling: a faster way to get help with repairs

Sometimes it’s hard to explain a problem in your home over the phone. With video calling, you can show us what’s wrong so we can help you faster.

Why it helps
  • We can often diagnose the issue right away, without waiting for a visit.
  • In many cases, we can help you fix simple problems during the call.
  • If a visit is needed, we can order the right parts ahead of time so repairs happen faster.
How it works
  • We’ll only start a video call during a repair conversation and only with your permission.
  • We can only see what you show us on your camera — nothing else on your phone.
  • You don’t need any technical skills; our team will guide you.
Where we’re using it

We’re currently testing video calls for gas and electric emergencies and some damp and mould issues. If it works well, we’ll expand it to more areas.

Planned works

The quality and safety of your homes is extremely important to us. As well as carrying out the repairs you report to us, we run a programme of planned works.

Planned works are replacement/repairs that are programmed in advance and which usually involves the replacement of external or internal elements of the property or common parts e.g. roofs, windows, kitchens, bathrooms, boilers. Planned works enhance the quality and value of the property and wider living conditions.

This allows us to keep your homes in good condition and ensures we are on track to meet the Scottish Housing Quality Standard. It also gives us better value for money when we complete similar work on several homes at once.
