Getting involved in a local Tenants and Residents Association (TARA) is a great way to make a positive difference where you live. TARAs bring tenants and residents together to share ideas, raise local issues and work with organisations like Riverside Scotland to improve communities.

By joining a local group, you can help shape decisions that affect your area and make sure local voices are heard.

What is a Local Tenants and Residents Association?

A Local Tenants and Residents Association (TARA) is a group of people who live in the same neighbourhood and work together to represent the interests of their community.

These groups:

  • Give tenants and residents a collective voice.
  • Share feedback and local concerns.
  • Help influence decisions that affect the area.
  • Work with housing providers, local authorities and community organisations.
  • Support community projects and local improvements.

Local groups are run by residents, for residents, and Riverside Scotland is here to support them.

What you'll do

As a member of a local association, you may:

  • Attend regular meetings.
  • Discuss local housing and community issues.
  • Share ideas for improving your neighbourhood.
  • Work with Riverside Scotland and other partners.
  • Help organise community activities and events.
  • Represent the views of local tenants and residents.

You can choose your level of involvement, whether you'd like to attend meetings occasionally or play a more active role within the group.
