Riverside Scotland is celebrating success after taking home a major award and receiving further recognition at a national awards ceremony on Friday 12th June.
The organisation attended the Scotland Energy Efficiency Awards 2026, where it had been shortlisted in two categories.
On the night, Riverside Scotland won Large Scale Project of the Year for its first phase of retrofit works in Pennyburn, Kilwinning. Delivered in partnership with Union Technical Services, the project represents a significant investment in improving homes, providing energy efficiency upgrades that enhance comfort, reduce energy use and support customers through ongoing cost-of-living pressures.
The Large Scale Project of the Year category recognises high-value schemes—typically over £250,000—that demonstrate outstanding delivery, measurable energy savings and strong customer outcomes. Judges assess the overall scale and impact of the project, including the quality of delivery, community benefits and customer feedback, as well as the effective integration of energy efficiency initiatives and the expertise of the teams involved.
In addition to this success, Riverside Scotland was also highly commended in the Housing Association of the Year category, recognising the organisation’s wider commitment to investing in homes and communities and delivering high-quality services.
The Pennyburn retrofit programme has already made a tangible difference, with residents reporting a “night and day difference” in their homes following improvements.
Gary Naylor, Managing Director of Riverside Scotland, said:
“We’re absolutely delighted to have won Large Scale Project of the Year and to be highly commended for Housing Association of the Year.
“These awards are a testament to the dedication of our teams and partners, and to the real difference our investment is making for customers. Our focus is not only on improving energy efficiency, but on creating warmer, healthier homes and stronger communities.
“We’ve worked closely with Union Technical Services to deliver this project following the success of our award winning Dumfries retrofit, and their expertise and collaborative approach have been key to its success ensuring high-quality outcomes for customers.”
This recognition highlights the success of Riverside Scotland’s ongoing retrofit programme and its commitment to tackling fuel poverty, while delivering safe, high-quality homes and services fit for the future that make a lasting difference to people’s lives.
