In Scotland, the Winter Fuel Payment was replaced by a new benefit called the Pension Age Winter Heating Payment (PAWHP) in winter 2024/25.

🔥 What is it?

The Pension Age Winter Heating Payment is an annual, tax-free payment to help older people with heating costs during the winter months.

💷 How much is it?

Eligible individuals will receive either:

• £203.40 (aged 66–79 during the qualifying week)
• £305.10 (aged 80+ during the qualifying week)

👵 Who is eligible?

To qualify, you must:

• Live in Scotland
• Be aged 66 or over during the qualifying week (15–21 September 2025)
• Have an annual income of £35,000 or less

📬 How do you get it?

• No need to apply — most eligible people will receive it automatically
• Payments will be made by Social Security Scotland starting November–December 2025
• You’ll receive a letter confirming your payment
