Staff gain new qualifications to support housing development

Congratulations to two of our Asset Officers, David and Fraser, who have recently achieved their HNC in Construction Management.

The HNC in Construction Management develops knowledge and skills in areas such as construction materials and specifications, site surveying, construction technology, site administration, and standard forms of construction contracts.

The new skills and knowledge that David and Fraser have gained will help our Asset Team manage housing development and improvement projects in the future.

David said, ‘Completing my HNC is construction management, has allowed me to get a better understanding of our own housing development projects and our larger structural projects that we carry out. It was a great opportunity for me and my future development in Irvine Housing Association.’

Fraser said, ‘I wanted to do the course to further my knowledge and pick up skills which I can transfer on to my day-to-day role. It was very beneficial to me to be able to pick up new skills and learn in areas which I wouldn’t normally be involved with as part of my job. I particularly enjoyed learning about contracts and larger scale construction as this was new to me and I found that part very interesting. Although it was difficult at times to balance studying as well as working full time it was rewarding to complete the HNC and I took a lot from it to use in my job at Irvine Housing Association.’
